Residents question why Midway, Ark. post office remains closed after 2023 fire

MIDWAY, Ark. (KY3) – Many in one Baxter County, Ark. community are wondering why their post office remains closed more than a year after a fire.

In June 2023, the post office was closed because of a fire that damaged inside portions of the building. Now that the year anniversary of the fire has passed, some in the community are growing frustrated.

“I’ve lived here almost 12 years. For the first 10, almost 11 years, I had a post office. Now I don’t,” Arlene Myslinski, who lives in Midway said.

Myslinski’s anger isn’t just because the post office is closed, but also because patrons aren’t hearing anything from USPS.

“It’s still not operational. There is no sign. There’s no nothing. We never heard anything. Never got anything in our mail,” Myslinski explained.
