MARS HILL, N.C. (WLOS) — Friends of Teresa Ramsay, a U.S. Postal Service worker who was shot and carjacked in Mars Hill, are holding a fundraising event to help her as she continues to recover.
Ramsay’s adult daughter said her mother is improving and hopes to be transferred from Mission Hospital to a rehabilitation facility soon as she continues to heal from extensive injuries.
Authorities said Ramsay was carjacked and shot on Sept. 5 during her mail route in a neighborhood. Jaden Isaiah Garay, 23, was arrested in Burke County Tuesday in the stolen postal vehicle following a high-speed chase and a search. Madison County officials say Garay has been charged with attempted first-degree murder and given a $2 million bond. His next court date is Oct. 9.
