The US Postal Service’s handling of a report that a Black employee was allegedly called a racist slur by a White co-worker was reasonable, undercutting her workplace harassment lawsuit, a federal judge ruled.
A jury likewise couldn’t find that the single slur, though “perhaps the most offensive and inflammatory” racial pejorative in the English language, created a hostile work environment for Maudell Anderson, the US District Court for the Central District of California said Tuesday.
A claim based the slur wasn’t properly before the court because Anderson instead focused on the USPS’s response to the incident.
