Beloved mail carrier, shot and killed in Chicago

CHICAGO — A man was shot and killed Sunday night on the Stevenson ramp to DuSable Lake Shore Drive.

Illinois State Police responded to the northbound ramp just after 10:20 p.m. on the report of an expressway shooting.

The men was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle He pronounced dead at the hospital.

The family of the man identifies him as Damian Dunning.

His brother Roy Shannon and cousin Robin Wright said they are still in disbelief about the scale of their loss.

“These kids don’t understand they’re taking the lives of our loved ones,” Shannon said.

“It renders you speechless. Just pure disbelief,” Wright said. “Nobody deserves to be gunned down like this.”

His family said Dunning was a devoted father, a US Postal Service letter carrier and entrepreneur.

Dunning leaves behind an 8-year-old son behind.

The family has set up a GoFundMe page.
