Tampa man arrested in hit-and-run that killed postal worker had 15 license suspensions, records show

Prater’s son, Christopher Prater Jr., contacted the police after he overheard his father on the phone saying he hit someone and left, according to the arrest affidavit. Prater Jr. also identified the person in the surveillance footage as his father.

USPS faces $15,625 fine after heat-related death of Dallas mail carrier Eugene Gates Jr.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration citation alleges the postal service failed to protect workers on June 20, the day Gates died, from “the recognized hazard of high outdoor heat including high temperature, high humidity and direct sun exposure.”

NAPS – USPS Responses to Modifications to Salary Schedules and Annual Leave Programs

Tampa mail carrier dead after USPS truck overturns in hit-and-run; suspect at large

Preliminary investigation revealed that a dark-colored Mercedes sedan struck the postal carrier’s USPS truck and then fled the scene. Police located the suspect vehicle about a mile away with damage consistent with the crash.

USPS OIG – Processing and Delivery of Veterans Affairs Medicine

We found that while the Postal Service processed and delivered a large majority of the VA Pharmacy packages on time, the processing facilities visited did not always handle damaged medication packages or medication found loose in the mail as required by policy.
