The Postal Service is continuing to modernize existing infrastructure through the installation of new, upgraded package processing equipment. New equipment investments will increase package sorting throughputs, increase automation capabilities for larger packages, increase sortation accuracy, and improve machine reliability. During installation of the new package sorters, some facilities require temporary volume shifts to alternate package processing locations.
