A bi-partisan House bill seeks to rename the Washington Crossing U.S. Post Office after Susan C. Barnhart, the “beloved and dedicated” employee who tragically died in the July flash flood that devastated the Bucks County community.

The bill, introduced by U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-01) and U.S. Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12), wants the site at 1077 River Rd. in Washington Crossing to be “a symbol of her dedication” to a community “left in mourning” by her death.

“Susan Barnhart was beloved in Bucks County and made various contributions to our community,” said Fitzpatrick. “The flooding that devastated parts of Bucks County this past July tragically took several members of our community from us, including Susan. I am honored to remember Susan’s lasting legacy through this bipartisan legislation.”

Added Coleman, who represents the district in New Jersey where Susan once lived: “Susan Barnhart was a model citizen who served with dedication and compassion. Her traffic passing has left a community in mourning.”
