The United States Postal Service plans to continue forward with its plan to consolidate and create Sorting and Delivery Centers.

However, this initiative is receiving some backlash from Congressman Bill Huizenga (R-Michigan).

Huizenga wrote a letter to Postmaster General Louis DeJoy questioning the plan, which he said “threatens to cause mail delivery delays for local residents and longer routes for postal workers.”

“This one-size-fits-all proposal originating from your “Delivering for America” plan is likely to negatively impact the constituents I represent with a decline in the quality of service,” the letter said in part.

The Sorting and Delivery Center in southwest Michigan would be on 9th Street in Oshtemo Township, according to Huizenga.
