JACKSON, Miss. —
The holiday season is just around the corner and that means the U.S. Postal Service is stepping up to make sure they have enough employees and resources to get packages out on time.
USPS nationwide invested $40 billion in new plant technology, including in Jackson. New package sorting equipment made its public debut Thursday at Capitol City’s processing and distribution center.
“The postal service is modernizing its operations to accommodate the increased customer demand for package delivery, which has grown significantly, as you know, over the past several holiday seasons,” said Henry Dominguez, Mississippi USPS senior plant manager.
The new technology can sort through thousands of packages an hour.
