The United States Postal Service is facing accusations that it violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by failing to pay non-exempt employees in Tennessee for overtime work, after a new lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Memphis.
The employees regularly worked more than 40 hours per week, but USPS maintained a widespread policy and practice of not paying them time-and-a-half wages for those extra hours, the complaint alleges.
As a result, the employees only received about 60% of their earned wages, according to the complaint filed April 29 in U.S. District Court.
