BIBB COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) – The United States Postal Service (USPS) has announced the commencement of a Mail Processing Facility Review (MPFR) for its Macon facility.
This assessment is part of the USPS’s efforts to modernize the nation’s aging postal network and improve service and operational efficiency in Georgia. The review aims to identify opportunities to introduce new products and competitive services for mailing and shipping customers in the future.
As outlined in the USPS’s 10-year strategic plan, Delivering for America, the organization has allocated $40 billion to modernize the postal processing and delivery network. In line with this plan, the USPS recently opened a new Sorting and Delivery Center in Athens, GA, and is currently constructing a state-of-the-art Regional Processing and Distribution Center in Palmetto, which will be the first facility of its kind in the country.
The MPFR process is expected to have minimal impact on customer service. In most cases, business mail entry, Post Office services, retail stations, branches, and delivery services will remain unchanged.
