The Postal Service will release its Mighty Mississippi stamps on May 23.
The Forever stamps will come in panes of 10 photographic stamps, each representing a state along the 2,300-mile course of the Mississippi River.
The pane’s arrangement corresponds to the 10 states’ north-south and west-east sequence along the river, from its source in Minnesota to Louisiana, where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico.
Ethel Kessler designed the pane, using existing photographs.
The Mighty Mississippi stamps will be available at usps.com and at Post Offices nationwide.
