FORT MYERS, Fla. — The U.S. Postal Service says dozens of mailboxes belonging to one Fort Myers condo association are in such bad shape that they can no longer deliver their mail.
Folks living at the Residence Condominiums in Fort Myers are now forced to drive to the post office to get their mail, despite paying thousands in HOA fees. They say their community is becoming rundown.
Residents said they were notified their mail was going to be stamped “return to sender” because of the poor condition of dozens of the mailboxes.
Terry Barlow said that he and others will suffer if the mail is returned after they have pleaded with the condo association to repair them.
“Because this is broken it is a security issue and they will not deliver the mail because obviously somebody could steal the mail,” Barlow said.
Duct tape is being used to secure the boxes on the wall.
“Local management is aware of the matter and is working on replacements,” the post office said.
