U.S. Postmaster General Louis DeJoy installed new postmasters for three Bay Area cities this week.
Ernesto Avila becomes the 26th postmaster for Antioch.
Lynnette Hill, a 16-year U.S. Postal Service employee, is now Fairfield’s new postmaster.
And, Tracy Tan is now the new postmaster for San Leandro.
Avila, Hill and Tan took their oaths with DeJoy on Monday, when he administered the oath to a total of 31 new California postmasters.
“It’s truly a surreal moment. Never did I think nor expect that I would one day become a postmaster in charge of hundreds of employees-much less a whole city,” Tan said. “However, with this new beginning, I hope to strengthen the systems my predecessors have established and continue to grow with the city of San Leandro.
