BRUNSWICK, Vt. —
Postal inspectors are investigating the attack of a rural mail carrier from Colebrook.
Paul Burch was delivering mail in Brunswick, Vermont, on Tuesday. He said a man went into his truck to look for a package he was expecting.
Burch said he pulled the man out and that’s when he was attacked.
“And the next thing I know, I was looking up at the sky and a woman was cradling my head in her hands,” Burch said. “She told me that she witnessed him striking me and knocking me out with the first punch.”
Burch said that woman who helped him knew who the attacker was and gave a name to police.
Burch was treated for a concussion and got some stitches. He said he still hasn’t been able to work.
“I never, ever expected my job employment would be so dangerous,” Burch said.
