A postal carrier was critically injured when she was struck by a municipal salt truck in Trenton on Feb. 17.
According to Police Chief Michael Oakley, the woman walked behind the truck near the intersection of Dickinson and Elm streets and the truck driver, who works for Trenton’s Department of Public Works, hit her as he was backing up the vehicle.
Oakley said he wasn’t clear on all of her injuries, but believes the Allen Park woman suffered several broken bones to her leg or legs.
Elizabeth Najduch, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Postal Service, said due to privacy rules and regulations she cannot disclose any information about their employee.
“It was tragic, and it could have been worse,” Oakley said.
The driver immediately attempted to aid the woman.
