MILWAUKEE —
A Milwaukee mail carrier was robbed Wednesday afternoon near 89th and Chambers streets, police said.
It happened at about 12:45 p.m.
Police said the armed person approached, demanded and took property from the mail carrier.
No one has been arrested. Neighbors said it appeared the mail carrier was not hurt.
“The United States Postal Inspection Service is aware of a USPS Letter Carrier robbed today in Milwaukee, WI. Unfortunately, because this is an active investigation, I will not be able to provide any additional information at this time,” a spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Inspection Service told WISN 12 News.
This is the third reported mail carrier armed robbery in Milwaukee this year. In the previous two cases, the crooks stole arrow keys, which mail carriers use to open locked mail boxes and blue collection boxes.
