MARS HILL, N.C. (WLOS) — A 65-year-old retired math teacher was run over and killed by a U.S. Postal Service truck Wednesday, Dec. 27, in the Mars Hill post office parking lot.
The man, with his wife, stopped in to get his mail at the Mars Hill post office downtown when the incident took place at around 2:45 p.m., police said. The truck’s driver was backing into the alley that leads to the back of the building when he hit the victim.
“Our victim was walking behind the delivery truck,” Wilson told News 13 on Thursday, Dec. 28. “The delivery truck driver didn’t see our victim and hit him with the back tandem tires,”
