ST. LOUIS, Mo.
Claims of Post Office issues have come up in other parts of the St. Louis Metro too, including an Arnold location.
The mail carrier says staff shortages are causing problems. When mail carriers are off, the mail carrier says no one is replacing them.
Recently, he says he heard a USPS downtown supervisor say, “‘No matter how many routes you’re down, no matter how many call in, you do not get to call mail carriers on their day off to bring them to work.’”
He says that means mail is often sitting for days until the carrier returns.
He and other mail carriers have tried telling their bosses about customers’ issues and ways of making sure they are able to get life-saving medications on time, but it’s seemingly falling on deaf ears, he says.
“We are the soldiers, they are the generals,” said the mail carrier. “If the generals don’t listen to the soldiers, the battle… the battle is a lost battle.”
USPS sent a statement to First Alert 4 reading:
