Kerrville postal worker gains ‘hero’ status on route

On Thursday, U.S. postal worker Cecil Cloyed was on his normal route when he heard a faint call for help from inside a home on his route.

“I just barely heard her, but I could definitely hear she was calling for help,” said Cloyed, who immediately called the Kerrville Police Department.

He said he went across the street to see if a neighbor had a key, but no luck.

When police arrived, they found 80-year-old Alicia Ramos lying on the floor, unable to get up. Ramos said she fell on Monday night and had not been able to get up off the floor since then.

“I guess I tripped coming out of the washroom,” she said. “I’ve been going in and out of that washroom for years, I don’t know what happened this time.”
