Investigation launched in Dolores County, CO after 23% of voters didn’t receive ballots

Choate also sent a letter to USPS, stating that he believes USPS lost track of the ballots after they were loaded onto a USPS truck in Seattle. The barcodes for those ballots were never checked in at the Albuquerque, New Mexico General Mail Facility, nor did they appear as “scanned for delivery” to the voter.

With that, Choate said the ballots were likely lost somewhere between the Seattle loading dock and the Albuquerque delivery scan, while in USPS possession.

Since the letter, the department told FOX31 that the postal service has opened up an investigation.

Currently, the House District 58 Republican Primary race is in the middle of a recount.

USPS sent the following statement to FOX31: “Postal Management is aware of outgoing ballots arriving late to residents in Dolores County. Postal Management takes these issues very seriously and is reviewing the situation with the Colorado Secretary of State to resolve going forward. We regret any concern caused.”
