Hutchinson mail carriers delivered a special message to the home of a former coworker Thursday morning.
Nearly 30 mail trucks formed a caravan that drove, hazard lights blinking, by the home of Vickie and the late Dennis Byard on Downing Road at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Dennis, a Hutchinson mail carrier for 32 years, died on Monday at age 73.
The Byard’s son, Matt, who also briefly worked at the post office, arranged the parade.
“I made a call and sent some texts, and they did the rest,” he said. “The Postal Service gets the credit. This was all them. We really appreciated them taking the time out of their day to do that.”
