Final Review: USPS mail processing to remain in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WLOX) – The United States Postal Service plans to keep certain mail processing operations at the Gulfport postal facility.

This means mail that is collected on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and headed to a local address would not leave the region before being delivered.

The update comes after an earlier business review showed it was possible some processing operations could be sent to facilities in Jackson.

The Postal Service initially said jobs could have been impacted if mail processing was moved to Jackson. However, with the new decision, USPS says there would be no employee impacts.
