The trucker at the wheel of a tractor-trailer that careened off the interstate and into the Charles River has been cited for civil infractions.
The unnamed driver – the Massachusetts State Police does not release the names of people charged with only civil infractions – has been cited for excessive speed and a marked lanes violation, according to the State Police.
“The investigation is ongoing to determine if any other charges are warranted,” said David Procopio, an agency spokesman.
Initial reports on Saturday indicated that the tractor-trailer, which was carrying U.S. mail, went off Interstate 95 North in Weston shortly before noon and mentioned that it happened near or on Exit 39 toward the Massachusetts Turnpike and Route 30.
