CHICOPEE — A California-based mail sorting contractor announced it will close its Chicopee facility, eliminating 305 jobs by the end of October.
Matheson Flight Extenders, based in Sacramento, California, notified both state and federal authorities about the closure Thursday through a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) filing.
The Chicopee facility closing brings the number of threatened Matheson Flight Extenders sorting facilities to three. Besides the Chicopee closure, the company has announced it will eliminate 335 jobs at its Atlanta facility and another 327 in Brandywine, Maryland.
The company issued WARN filings on the Atlanta and Brandywine facilities two weeks ago.
