Angry Junk Mail Recipient Attacked Rochester Postman

ROCHESTER, MN (KROC-AM News) – Rochester police arrested a woman accused of assaulting a mail carrier over junk mail she received.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Olmsted District Court. The alleged assault occurred on Monday.

According to the charges, the postal worker was sitting in his marked mail truck when a woman was identified 33-year-old Halimodenise Bashir Mohamed approached him and expressed that she was upset about the junk mail she had received.

The mailman said the Rochester woman then threw mail at him. He also accused her of punching him in the face and chest, the criminal complaint says.

The complaint does not list the location of the alleged attack on a federal employee or describe any injuries the mail carrier suffered.

Mohamed was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree felonious assault, felonious assault on a postal worker and two counts of felonious assault.

She was released without bail and is due back in court next month.
