LOGAN, OH – Amy Forrest, who works out of the Logan Post Office, has been delivering mail for close to 20 years. Her current route, serving around 720 mailboxes, takes her out Lake Logan Road, through Enterprise, down Chieftain Drive and Frasure-Helber Road, and back into town.

On Sept. 8, Forrest noticed something odd at one of the homes she delivers to. Her response to what she saw may have saved a man’s life.

The resident was a man living alone. “His mail was piling up, and I thought, something’s not right here,” Forrest recalled. “So I left a note with a neighbor.”

When the neighbor found her note the morning of Sept. 9, he went to check on the man. As another neighbor later recounted in a letter to Forrest, around 8:30 a.m. the first neighbor “walked up to check on him and he found him on the ground. He had fell the night before and was outside all night.” The man was reportedly lying outside near his front door, out of sight until you got into close proximity.

A 911 call was made, and the man ended up being transported to a Columbus hospital – possibly just in time.
