PORTAGE, MI — The U.S. Postal Service is moving ahead with plans to consolidate postal workers in Southwest Michigan.
On Oct. 31, National Association of Postal Supervisors Michiana Area Vice President Kevin Trayer received notification that beginning June 1, 2024, the Portage, Schoolcraft and Kalamazoo-Westwood branch of the USPS will move their delivery units to one facility in Kalamazoo.
Portage Mayor Patricia Randall shared the news at the Nov. 1 Portage City Council meeting, noting her disappointment that residents will soon experience longer wait times for their mail.
