USPS site in Rothschild to become charging station for EV fleet

ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAW) – The United States Postal Service has notified the village of Rothschild it’s moving forward with a plan to accommodate a fleet of EVs.

Earlier this year, the Postal Service announced a plan to convert approximately 400 selected sites into sorting and delivery centers nationwide. Previously, USPS hoped to have a fleet of 66,000 electric vehicles deployed by 2028.

The site is located 400 Creske Ave. The first phase in Rothschild will include parking lot improvements, storm sewer additions and electrical trenching. A timeline wasn’t provided in the village board agenda packet on Monday night.

The site is owned by the federal government. The village of Rothschild can make recommendations about the plan, but the government isn’t required to follow them.
