More than 8,000 Retail and Delivery Operations supervisors from across the nation recently attended a series of meetings that highlighted supervisors’ vital role in the organization’s future.
Participants learned about the Postal Service’s strategy under the Delivering for America plan, strengthened their leadership skills, shared best practices and received advice on moving forward in their postal careers.
“Our front-line supervisors play a critical role, helping our organization to operate with precision and efficiency. This was an investment in them and an investment in the organization. These meetings were a valuable opportunity to update them on our progress under Delivering for America and to remind them of their importance to our future success,” said Dr. Joshua Colin, chief retail and delivery officer.
Postmaster General Louis DeJoy spoke at each meeting, along with other postal executives. Topics included Delivering for America, operations, customer service, safety, labor, finances, workplace security, and professional and leadership development.
Six sessions were held, with two each in Atlanta; Nashville, TN; and National Harbor, MD.
The meetings, the first of their kind for Retail and Delivery Operations, were geared toward supervisors at Level 22 Post Offices and higher, which represents the largest demographic in retail and delivery.
Nina Spindle, a customer services supervisor at North End Station in Detroit, attended a Nashville session and said it helped her appreciate the necessity of changes introduced under Delivering for America.
“This opportunity is very informative and eye-opening. You hear some of these terms but to see it in person and understand why has been very interesting,” she said.
Andreis Gonzalez, an acting customer services manager at the Blue Lagoon Post Office in Miami, attended a meeting at National Harbor, where he said the tools he learned about “are making our job a lot easier now. But it depends on us to use them properly and improve performance at the stations to help save this great organization.”
