USPS investigating mail dumping in east Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The United States Postal Service is investigating a mail dumping in east Austin, USPS officials confirmed with KXAN.

A resident reached out to KXAN last week after claiming they saw a postal truck parked on the side of the road near Lovell Drive and Manor Road. The tipster said they later looked down into the nearby creek, where they found mail strewn across the area.

A spokesperson for the USPS Office of Inspector General confirmed the department was investigating the report, adding the mail had been recovered from the creek. Officials did note they wouldn’t be able to share any additional information at this time given the “ongoing status of the investigation.”
