TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – The Holiday season is the busiest time of year for the United States Postal Service.

USPS at 1410 NW Gage Blvd in Topeka is using a new sorting machine and new vehicles, which they believe will improve efficiency for the holidays.

“That’s why we’re talking about it now,” said USPS Strategic Communications Specialist Mark Inglett. “Let’s get busy, you know it’s coming, you want to enjoy your holiday right? So get the shopping out of the way, let us take care of mailing it for you, relax and enjoy your holiday.”

The postal service is gearing up to provide for customers this holiday season.

“We just love what we do and we love the look on those folk’s face,” Inglett said. “They’ll come into our lobby and they give us that package and they know they can trust us with that. Like I said, we’re the nation’s most trusted federal agency year-after-year.”

The new sorting machine processes up to 5,000 packages per hour, benefiting both customers and employees.
