The case revolved around the death of letter carrier Jonte Davis, 33, who was gunned down along Olive Avenue NE in Warren in March 2024.
CLEVELAND – CLEVELAND – The second of two men convicted of murdering a mail carrier has asked a federal judge for a new trial.
Thomas Sledge has submitted a motion to join co-defendant Kaprise Sledge’s motion for a new trial.
The latest motion argues that because both men were tried together, Thomas is in the same legal position as co-defendant Kaprise Sledge. Thomas Sledge says his motion is based on the same reasons that Kaprise Sledge believes he is entitled to another trial.
December 10th sentencing hearings are scheduled for Kaprise Sledge and his father, Thomas, who were found guilty of murdering an officer and employee of the United States and using, carrying, and discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence.
