The Postal Service is spotlighting the efforts of retail associates during Clerks Care Week, which is March 5-11.
The Clerks Care program allows retail associates, call center agents, and machine and distribution clerks to pass on sales tips.
Clerks Care has brought in more than $1.4 billion since it began in 2013.
It was the Postal Service’s top lead- and revenue-generating program for fiscal year 2021 (Oct. 1, 2020-Sept. 30, 2021). For fiscal year 2022, it has generated more than $76 million in revenue so far.
“We are celebrating our retail associates and clerks this week for all they do to help our customers,” said Lou DeRienzo, a small-business senior specialist at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC. “Because they are out in front, the leads they submit are very important for the success of the Postal Service.”
An example of that kind of customer service is this sales lead from a retail associate in California, which resulted in a direct mail deal worth more than $10,000 for the Postal Service:
David Cadena was helping customers at the Santa Ana Processing and Distribution Center when he talked with a business customer who had stopped by to get information about Every Door Direct Mail.
Cadena provided information about the program, which offers a cost-effective way to advertise. He wrote down the customer’s contact information and submitted a lead through Clerks Care.
Martin Espinoza, a business development specialist, followed up with the customer and closed a direct mail deal worth $10,317 in new estimated annualized revenue for the Postal Service.
Sales generated from Clerks Care leads count toward the USPS Every Lead Counts campaign to raise revenue through sales leads from employees.
The Postal Service is encouraging as many employees as possible to submit at least one lead through any of its six lead programs by Sept. 30.
