U.S. Postal Service Loses Hundreds Of Local Washington Vote By Mail Ballots

The U.S. Postal Service has lost hundreds of local Washington vote by mail ballots.

Whitman County Auditor Sandy Jamison reports that about 250 ballots, primarily for voters in Garfield, have gone missing after being processed by the postal service.  Jamison sent out all of the county’s vote by mail ballots on October 16th.  She says the main Spokane postal center processed the ballots and marked them as “successfully scanned” but the ballots were never delivered.  The postal service is trying to find the lost ballots and Jamison has taken to the issue to the highest levels of the USPS in Washington State.

Whitman County voters who haven’t received their vote by mail ballot for next week’s general election need to request a replacement ballot by calling the auditor’s office at 509-397-5284.  Replacement ballots can also be printed out here https://voter.votewa.gov/portal2023/login.aspx

Jamison says she is diligently investigating the lost ballots and her goal is to ensure that every voter in Whitman County can participate in the election.
