MADISON, Miss. —
Police arrested three people accused of breaking into U.S. Post Office mailboxes and stealing thousands of dollars in checks.
According to a news release from the Madison Police Department, the trio is suspected of breaking into USPS blue collection boxes in Madison, Brandon and four in Jackson.
Madison police and the U.S. Postal Service began investigating the break-ins on Monday, Aug. 5.
“Investigators began gathering evidence that led them to a suspect vehicle,” Lt. Micah Taylor said in the release. “The vehicle was located on Lakeland Drive, and following a traffic stop, suspected burglary tools were located inside the vehicle.
