MOUNTAIN VIEW – A 16-year-old boy was cited for allegedly shooting a gel pellet gun at a postal carrier in Mountain View, police said.
The incident was reported around 2:30 p.m. Monday on the 2300 block of Jardin Drive. The postal carrier stated that a teenager drove up next to him, rolled down a window and “shot rocks” at him, the Mountain View Police Department said in a news release.
Police said the postal carrier was not injured.
Officers located a vehicle and a driver matching the suspect description. The driver sped away from marked patrol units and drove recklessly through a residential neighborhood spanning Mountain View and Los Altos, police said. He was detained a short time later.
After being cited for battery and reckless driving, the teenager was released to his parents. The vehicle he used in the shooting will be impounded for 30 days, police said.
