Suspect throws coffee at on-duty postal worker, repeatedly punches him in Midtown attack

NEW YORK  — A postal worker was on-duty in Midtown Thursday morning when a suspect approached, dumped coffee on him and beat him in an unprovoked attack, police said.

The 49-year-old postal worker was unloading his truck just before 11:15 a.m. on West 49th Street and Fifth Avenue when it happened.

A suspect threw coffee at the worker and punched him multiple times throughout the body, including his head, authorities said.

Still at large, the suspect fled westbound on foot down West 49th Street.

Medical personnel transported the victim to NYU Langone in stable condition, police said.

The investigation is ongoing
