GRAND RAPIDS — A former Sunfield postal clerk was sentenced this month to probation and restitution after she admitted stealing gift cards from the mail and using them for herself.
Robin Gangwer, 55, was sentenced July 19 in U.S. District Court on one count of theft of mail matter by a postal employee. In exchange for pleading guilty, Gangwer was sentenced to two years supervised release, fined $500 and ordered to pay $665 in restitution. She also was assessed an additional $100 for other costs.
According to online court documents, Gangwer worked for the Postal Service for nearly 10 years. On May 30, 2022, she “embezzled two pieces of mail” that included preloaded Target gift cards. Gangwer was observed using the cards at the Lansing West Target later the same day to purchase items for her own use.
Gangwer was charged in March 2023 and released on a $10,000 bond.
