Search Underway for Suspects in Daytime Robbery of Postal Worker in Northeast Washington, D.C.

Authorities in the nation’s capital are on the lookout for two individuals following the recent robbery of a postal worker in the Northeast quadrant of the city. The incident, which has shaken the local community, occurred on the 200 block of 50th Street, NE.

The Metropolitan Police Department reported that on Friday, just after noon, a United States Postal Service letter carrier was accosted by two assailants who demanded the worker’s possessions, intimating they had weapons. The postal worker complied, and the suspects then escaped from the scene. The case has since become a priority for local law enforcement, as they strive to ensure public servants’ safety and security.

Details surrounding the crime were outlined in a press release published on the MPD website, according to which, the two suspects remain unidentified and at large. Members of the Sixth District responded promptly to the call on Friday, assisting the victim and commencing an investigation into the brazen midday theft. The release did not specify the nature of the stolen items.

The MPD has issued a call for assistance from the public, urging anyone with information regarding the perpetrators to step forward. They advise those with knowledge of the incident or the identity of the suspects to contact police at (202) 727-9099, or to send information anonymously by texting the Department’s TEXT TIP LINE at 50411. A financial incentive is being offered, with rewards of up to $1,000 for tips that lead to an arrest, and indictment of those responsible for the crime.
