On Friday, Desai Abdul-Razzaaq, a communications representative for the Postal Service serving Wisconsin, Minnesota and North Dakota, said local management in Bayfield was aware of delivery problems and taking steps to address them.

“There are employee shortages that have caused delivery service delays,” he said in an email statement. “We are flexing our resources including using overtime. We appreciate the patience of our customers. When mail service issues occur, we take steps to quickly resolve customer concerns. We gladly work to address any specific issue from the community when brought to our attention and we encourage customers to reach out to their local postal station.”

On Thursday, Nemec said a representative of the Bayfield post office told him that a substitute postal worker has been hired, and that they were doing the best they could to get deliveries back to normal. Later that day, Nemec finally got his first delivery of mail in three weeks.
