Postmaster general: ‘Substantial time, resources’ devoted to fix issues at Palmetto USPS facility

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – In response to U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff, the U.S. postmaster general said “substantial time, resources and attention” are being devoted to the Atlanta Regional Processing and Distribution Center (RPDC) in Palmetto after issues have plagued the facility for months.

Postmaster Louis DeJoy the Postal Service is in the middle of a “major new investment in our Georgia operations,” including at the Palmetto facility.

“Unfortunately, the initiation of the Atlanta RPDC led to a significant drop in performance, which was unanticipated,” DeJoy wrote in the letter.

The Palmetto facility has seen major delays and persistent issues, drawing ire from many, including Ossoff.

DeJoy said several things are being done to remedy the issues. Those include dispatching more than 100 personnel to work on-site, operational meetings, looking at transportation schedules, and increasing local trips, among others.
