DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) – The Denham Springs Police Department and Denham Springs Fire Department responded to a call about a “suspicious smell.”
The unidentified smell came from the post office located at 140 Del Orleans Ave.
DSPD confirmed that three people were taken to a hospital.
There is no word on the condition of those who were transported to the hospital.
Further investigation determined there were “leaking cases of harsh chemicals,” according to the Denham Springs Police Department.
None of those chemicals were considered toxic and the post office will remain closed at this time.
The call came in at approximately 6:15 a.m. on Monday, October 31.
The LSP hazardous materials team provided help at the scene.
