  • Received less pay than male colleagues for equal work
  • Question remains if promotional raise caps to blame

The U.S. Postal Service lost its bid to escape a labor relations specialist’s Equal Pay Act lawsuit, after a federal court in Pennsylvania said the plaintiff had shown she received unequal pay for equal work.

Minday Kleinfelter has worked for the Postal Service in various roles since 2001, most recently as a labor relations specialist. Such specialists handle disciplinary issues, grievances, back pay, and other employee issues. Kleinfelter alleges she was underpaid due to her sex.

The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Tuesday denied the agency’s motion for summary judgment.
