BLOOMINGTON (25News Now) – McLean County Coroner Kathy Yoder says the victim of a fatal traffic crash Monday morning was a postal worker from Pontiac.
Yoder identified the man as 36-year-old Ronald W. Bethard Jr. Preliminary autopsy opinion indicates that he died from multiple blunt injuries after the postal vehicle he was driving was hit by an SUV.
Toxicology is pending.
The driver of the SUV was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash happened at around 10:32 a.m. at the intersection of Ashley Drive and Beich Road.
“This tragedy is yet another reminder of the dangers present on our roadways,” Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington said. “Eliminating distractions and following the rules of the road are imperative to improving safety in our community.”
The crash is being investigated by the coroner’s office, police department and county accident reconstruction team.
