Postal Service worker made U-turn in front of cement truck to cause collision

KENT COUNTY, MI – A mail carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS) was cited for an accident on Monday in Caledonia Township that seriously injured her and another driver.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. Oct. 9, at 84th Street SE and Copper Heights Drive SE. The USPS vehicle and a cement truck were both traveling eastbound when the postal worker made a U-turn in front of the cement truck, Kent County Sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Brunner told MLive/The Grand Rapids Press on Tuesday, Oct. 10.

The USPS driver, a 37-year-old Gaines Township woman, is in stable condition at an area hospital following the crash. A 29-year-old Wyoming, who was driving a cement truck, was treated at a local hospital and released.
