Post office launches new “Hiring Hub” in Rochester, MN that streamlines the hiring process

ROCHESTER, Minn.-The Post Office is hiring, and this time the process has been streamlined. On October 16th, a new hiring hub opened at the the Valley High Drive NW location.

Rochester Post Office postmaster Todd Holm said, “This will get people in here a lot more faster, you get to do your fingerprints, do the assessment, you ask questions because most people have a lot of questions you know so that will streamline everything here.”

There are videos at the hub that can help applicants go through the hiring process. The hope is that more people will join the workforce with the hiring hub.

He said, “Yeah I mean this will get people hired, this will get people in here, you know this will definitely help out the organization by getting people in to work.”

Most jobs at the post office can start around $19 with the potential for promotions and raises later down the line.

“The need here is I mean you know we have people that retire you know and we have a lot of retirements coming up and we do have a shortage here of people and this like I said this will really streamline and really help us out, its’ also really good for the community too as well,” Holm said.

Postal workers are eligible for health and dental insurance once hired as well as 13 days of vacation time. The retirement benefits are generous as well with a savings plan and a federal pension.

Holm said, “we retain really well, like i said i’ve been in this organization for 34 years and the teamwork here is just it’s amazing just how everyone helps each other and you know I was in the military for a long time and I’ve never seen anything with such great teamwork as I have working for the post office.”

The hiring hub is currently open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
