LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Postal officials have cleared all packages at an annex facility in the Las Vegas valley after a small amount of mercury was discovered earlier this month.
Employees found about half of a tablespoon of mercury on June 5 at the Parcel Support Annex, which is located in Henderson, U.S. Postal Service spokesman Rod Spurgeon said in an email.
The facility was closed as a precaution and all mail was isolated for evaluation. The droplets were isolated to a piece of automation equipment, according to Spurgeon.
No employees were exposed or treated for possible exposure.
As of Thursday, all of the remaining packages at the Parcel Annex have been evaluated and cleared.
