The Postal Service is encouraging employees to show their support for heart health awareness by sporting scarlet on National Wear Red Day, Friday, Feb. 3.

The event takes place each year on the first Friday of February, which is American Heart Month.

Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, despite the fact that it is largely preventable, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Nearly half of all Americans have at least one of the three top risk factors for heart disease: high blood pressure, high cholesterol and smoking.

USPS employees who wish to take part should adhere to the parameters in their facility’s dress code, or those found within the Employee and Labor Relations Manual, Subchapter 930, Work Clothes and Uniforms.

Email the USPS Benefits and Wellness team with questions.
