Meet Belmont’s longtime postal workers

For 33 years, Mark Hardin has driven the same route for the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail to the Belmont community. The people he delivers to, he said, are what makes his job so special.

“You get to see people with kids, and they grow up, and they got kids,” Hardin said.

Hardin has been with the Postal Service for 37 years. He’s been bitten by dogs and has worked in all kinds of weather, which includes a shift during Hurricane Hugo in 1989.

During Hugo, the power was out, trees were done, “and we still worked,” Hardin said.

Jason Miller and Robert Leatherman also have worked at the Belmont Post Office for years, Miller for 26 and Leatherman for 29.
